The Story Behind Pacific Pier Optometry

Meet Dr. Dianna Kattengell, affectionately known as Dr. K. After graduating as an optometrist, she always dreamed of owning her own practice on the beautiful West Coast. Her journey took her through various locations, but she ultimately found her true home in Santa Monica.

The journey led her to Pacific Pier Optometry, an existing practice in the perfect location. It was meant to be. Dr. K and the previous owner really aligned on their values, and she was in the right place to take the reins.

Breathing fresh energy into the practice has been an exciting adventure, blending the trusted care you’ve always known with delightful updates you’ll love.

At Pacific Pier Optometry, we use up-to-date eye imaging technology to keep your vision healthy. One important tool is optomap retinal imaging, which provides a quick and painless scan of the back of your eye. This detailed image helps us detect early signs of eye conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinal tears, often before you notice any symptoms.

With optomap, we can examine your eyes without needing dilation drops, making your visit more comfortable and efficient. This technology is part of how we combine modern care with a personal touch to help protect your vision for the future.

Meet Your Optometrist

Dr. Dianna Kattengell, OD

Dr. Dianna Kattengell (Dr. K) is a therapeutic optometrist with more than 15 years of industry experience. She earned her doctor of optometry (OD) degree from the Southern California College of Optometry and her B.A. from Texas Christian University.

Specializing in primary eye care for patients of all ages, Dr. K is trained in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases, low vision therapy, fitting specialty contact lenses, and preoperative and postoperative care.

In the office, you’ll find that Dr. K delivers the highest level of care possible to her patients, ensuring they receive the attention, education, and support they need to make informed decisions about their ocular health.

When she isn’t behind the phoropter, you can find her spending time outdoors and hiking with her Australian cattle dog, Layla. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Dr. K is fluent in English and Spanish.
